When friends Sean Gallagher and Derek Roddy each bought new homes and were amazed that the only technology available when they moved in was a single TV and phone point.  They wanted to install a home office and a sound system and soon realised that it would mean having to rip out walls and skirting boards and start all over again.

Inspired by the idea that technology must be designed, planned and integrated into homes at building stage,they were sure that there was a very exciting business

opportunity for whoever was willing to solve the frustration experienced by home owners.

Following extensive research and development, the two entrepreneurs started Smarthomes in 2002 with phenomenal success in both areas of the new build segment, individual homes and large scale developments.  Today Smarthomes is Ireland’s market leader with a remarkable list of successful projects and numerous awards.
